Wrocław Zoo and Dodo Foundation support the program of research, breeding and protection of Javan warty pig (Sus verrucosus) – a species that was considered almost extinct in the late 1970s and is now considered endangered (IUCN 2000). The warty pig inhabits the teak forests of Indonesia and is threatened by habitat destruction, timber production and hunting.
